With Thanksgiving coming up, we have been thinking a lot about all that we’re grateful for. Even when times get tough, each of us have been blessed with so many wonderful things throughout our lives.
If all of us concentrated on the things that we do have and everything that is going well in our lives, as opposed to the things that we are without or the things that are going wrong, imagine how drastically our lives would change!
It is our attitude and our mindset that dictate our destination, not what we do or do not have. Surely, our situation does play a role in the outcome of our life, but the biggest factor in our success is how we choose to play the hand we are dealt.
Here’s why you should start practicing gratitude every single day:
- It makes you feel good. When you focus on the good in life, you’re plain old going to feel good. What good can possibly come out of wallowing in misery? Be thankful for what you have and get out there and work for what you want!
- It helps you to forgive. When you have the peace of mind to practice gratefulness no matter what your circumstance, you develop the sensibility to forgive. You will be more able to forgive those who have wronged you, yourself for the mistakes you’ve made and life for the situations you’ve been in.
- It helps you to move on. When you are appreciative of your life, you are able to accurately assess your situation making it easier to move on from past hurt, unpleasant experiences and unhealthy relationships.
- It puts you on the right path. Grateful people truly appreciate their life and want to do what is best for themselves and their loved ones. They are more likely to make wise decisions that are conducive to a happy and healthy life.
- It sets a good example. Practicing gratefulness, (and all of the benefits that come along with it), sets a great example for those around you! We all have people who are looking to us for direction, and we should set an example of positivity and appreciation!
- It makes you a better person. When you’re appreciative of your life, it boosts your character all-around. You tend to be happier, kinder and more patient.
- It makes others feel good. Being thankful means being appreciative of the people in your life. From your significant other, to your coworkers, to your best friend, to the cashier at your local grocery store, appreciating those around you can make someone’s entire day!
- It helps you to let things go. When you stop and think about everything that is going right, you can learn to let go of any baggage that you’ve been carrying around with you.
Being thankful doesn’t get the acknowledgement that it deserves. Daily gratitude has the power to completely transform your life. Don’t believe us? Try it out and see for yourself!
